Incident Reporting Process - LeedsAcro

In order to maintain a safe and supportive space in which to practise partner acrobatics, at any LeedsAcro event or class that I  facilitate, I have created this guide to assist you in reporting any incidents.

Please speak to me in person at an event as the first course of action. I can also be contacted after class by email: ScarlotRobinson@hotmail.com.

WHAT IS ACRO?

Acro yoga, also known as partner acrobatics, or partner balance, is a physical movement practice which combines elements of dance, yoga, acrobatics and bodyweight training in creative and playful ways.

WHAT IS AN INCIDENT?

An incident includes any unforeseen event during a LeedsAcro Jam, class or event that may impact safety, health, or well-being. In the context of consent, it is defined as any situation where there is a perceived violation of personal boundaries or the failure to obtain clear and enthusiastic consent. From minor accidents to concerns about consent, we're committed to addressing them effectively.

REPORTING PROCEDURE

At LeedsAcro we avoid victim-blaming and judgement, and aim to foster an atmosphere of empathy and understanding. No incident is too big or small to report, though please note we are not qualified counsellors or medical professionals and will refer you to professional services where appropriate.

Immediate Support:

  • In the case of immediate physical injury, prioritise well-being and seek medical attention if necessary.

  • The local emergency services number is 999 or 111 for non-emergencies.

  • Secure the area to prevent further harm.

Inform Event Organiser:

  • Reach out to the event organiser or designated staff promptly.

    • Scarlot Robinson is the first port of call for all LeedsAcro events and can direct you to other team members where appropriate.

  • Please share essential details: what occurred, when, and who was involved.

Complete Incident Report Form:

  • Please download and complete the incident report form provided for a comprehensive account.

  • Include relevant information such as date, time, and a detailed description of the incident.

  • Encourage anyone else that saw the event to share their names and contact details in the report.

Photographic Documentation:

  • It can be tempting to delete any photos or videos of a trick that lead to injury but we encourage you to keep them in a safe and confidential place until the injured person has been seen by a medical professional - they may help to explain the situation.

    • Please inform us if you wish to attach them to the incident report to provide visual context.

Your well-being is paramount. By following these guidelines, you contribute to the safety of our Acro events. The event organiser will investigate the incident thoroughly and take appropriate actions, all updates will be communicated transparently. We appreciate your commitment to maintaining a secure and positive community. If you require further, on-going support, we have put together a list of local resources here: Support resources

Thank you for your cooperation!

Scarlot Robinson
